My studio projects began with a trip to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park and ended with a view inside of William Hill. A bit of a jump but understandable when reflecting on my sketches at the sculpture park; though filled with beautiful scenery and works, my eye has always been drawn to people. Since I started working at William Hill in 2023, the faces you see come and go in a bookmakers have left an impact and I wanted to display my perspective as someone who sits and waits and watches the faces throughout the day.

A hypothetical cover for eye magazine based on the article “Make It Real”- reflecting on what is truly ‘real’ in our modern society. Based on sketches from the cafeteria at Yorkshire Sculpture Park, I centred my cover around the people engaging in the environment.

The result of my observational sketches while at work in William Hill is a POV of what I see day to day at work. I pulled a number of faces from my sketchbook and added them back into their typical environment. A betting shop is a place very few people go, so I really aimed to capture what it really is like.
